Saturday is a special day. It's the day we . . . .
SHOP!
Marty and I had quite the list of things that were needed yesterday, so off we went bright and early.
We started by looking for 2 twin mattresses. Rylee's mattresses really were terrible. They were mattresses that were given to us 11 years ago when we had our house fire. They were quite used at that point and now had springs poking through them. Jessica's were in better shape, but her room is the "guest" room when we have company. So we decided to move Jessica's mattresses into Rylee's room and get two new mattresses for Jessica's room (our girls have daybeds with trundles). Only had to visit two stores to find comfy mattresses in our price range. YEAH!!!! New mattresses for granny and grandad's visit in next week.
We then headed to Wal-Mart. Two weeks of groceries plus basic toiletry needs to the family and we were out of there in an hour. Not bad!
Sam's was next. Most people know we are milk drinkers. We have a refrigerator in the garage for milk alone. Saturday is our stock up day. 12 gallons of milk, a case of water and 6 racks of ribs for Memorial Day BBQ and we were set!
We had done all that by noon yesterday. Marty then leaned over and suggested we go test drive cars for the remainder of the afternoon.
(Just a bit of background) For as long as I can remember I have wanted a red convertible. It probably stems from the cute little red MG Midget my dad had when I was younger.

When Addyson was about 2, her grandad would tell her that he would buy her anything she wanted, she just had to ask for it. I kept trying to get her to convince her to ask for a red Mazda Miata. She would not ask for it. I would tell her I would take her anywhere in it, but she wasn't about to tell grandad she wanted a Miata when what she really wanted was a sucker and a book.
Anyways, for years now I've been saving for a red Mazda Miata a little bit from each pay check. I'm not a person to buy a new car. I always buy a car that someone else had loved first. Kind of like an adoptive parent. Well, I now have enough money to buy one, so we've been looking a little bit. I've test drove several, but they were all a little out my price range (savings account balance) and the dealers weren't willing to negotiate at all. Darn summer months when everyone wants a convertible!
On the internet I found a car that was a bargain basement price. Well within my price range! It was a little older than I had considered before, but had all the features that I was looking. If Marty was game, I was game. We headed to Springdale with.
When we got to the dealership we figured out why the price was so low on this car. It needs a lot of cosmetic work. The previous owner didn't protect this car from the elements. The paint job is ruined and the leather seats are cracked. However, the car drives like a dream. What a cute, fun car.

After a bit of negotiation, we were able to get the price reduced enough to cover the cosmetic needs. Hey, even I look better with a little bit of cosmetic help ☺ I won't have the car for about a week while the paint and seats are repaired, but watch out. This woman (who is not going through a mid life crisis) will be running around town in a very cute, sporty red convertible!!!!!
