Jessica & Rylee went for a walk this morning. On their way back, they noticed 2 baby birds laying in the grass with a broken nest next to them. They were extremely upset and insistent that we needed to save these babies lives.
I told the girls to leave the birds alone because if they touched the babies, the momma wouldn't come back. I came inside and googled what to do in this situation. I wasn't sure how to take care of these babies. I found out that the best thing to do is return the nest to it's spot in the tree and place the babies in the tree. The mama will return when she hears them cry out for food. It is a myth that she won't come back if humans touch her nest or babies. I also found out that if the nest is destroyed, you can make your own nest out of a plastic container. So out we went.
Jessica tried to get the babies back into the nest, but the nest was too little after the damage it had received. So off I went to find a plastic container for the babies new home.
We placed the remains of the nest in the bottom and placed the birds inside.
Now there are two happy baby birds making lots of noise in the front yard.

Hooray! That sounds exactly like something I & my sisters would have done. Well, I'd still prob. do it today. I do like animals.
Fantastic job guys!
what sweet girls you have, you're so smart to google what to do, I'm afraid I would've just assumed I couldn't do anything to help. . .
