Rylee absolutely loves to iron. (Not sure where she gets that from) The only thing that she irons is her blue jean skirt that curls up at the edges.
Last Sunday, she after ironing her skirt, she asked if anyone else had anything that needed to be ironed. Jessica promptly took advantage of the invitation and got Rylee her skirt.
Rylee merrily ironed away. She proudly handed the skirt back to Jessica. She was very proud of her work.
Jessica went to get dressed and quickly came out to ask what had happened to her skirt. I looked at it and knew instantly what had happened.
When teaching Rylee to iron, I forgot to teach her to read the labels and choose the appropriate heat setting for the material. Denim gets ironed on high, so that's all I showed her. Jessica's skirt was Rayon/Acetate. It was completely melted from a scorching hot iron. Jessica was so good about the situation. She realized that Rylee didn't intent to ruin her skirt. Rylee felt so bad. She had tried so hard to do a good job. Our family learned two good lessons that day.
1. When teaching new skills, followup lessons are required.
2. It's okay to make mistakes, as long as we learn from them.

I'm so impressed that your girls iron! I didn't learn that lesson until college...I melted my favorite black shirt!
